What is a Green Banner League?
Green Banner Leagues are long-form, community-driven, casual tournaments deigned to help you get more games in and meet new players in your area - and we're equipped to help organize play for most any wargaming system you might want to play. Each League has 3-4 Seasons per year, which each run for about 10 weeks. Players will be sorted into small skill-based groups called Pods, which are composed of 8 players on average, and will be given a random pairing of five opponents from their pod to play games against, for a total of 5 games played per Season, which can be completed in any order
Leagues are organized by region, with smaller sub-region groups to reduce travel time. An Organizer is the primary point of contact for all players in a League, a role filled by someone invested in their local wargaming community and who wants to see it grow. Players of all skill levels are welcome to join - all that's needed is a legal army, a great attitude, and a ticket!
How Do I Play?
First off, sign up through our website to join your local League and get placed. If your area doesn't have a League yet and you'd like to start one, please reach out to us.
Once your local League starts, you'll be assigned your Pod based on skill & location, and you'll be able to see your assigned games through your Account page - where you'll also be able to see the other players in your Pod, and your current and past standings and stats for the Seasons you've played.
Generally speaking, you'll be able to use our Discord server to coordinate with your opponents to schedule games, which can be played wherever and whenever is most convenient for the two of you. If you can't schedule a particular game, you'll be able to use our Ringer system to make sure you score all the points you can.
What Do We Play For?
Glory and prizes! Pod winners and runners-up will receive trophies and prizes each season, and after a league has completed three seasons, the top player for that region will be crowned Best General - and will be honored on their city's League page for the following year.
Additionally, participants earn Rank Points with every game they play: 1000 points for a win, 500 for a tie, and you always add the battle points you scored from your game to the total. You can progress from Iron to Bronze, to Silver, to Gold, and finally to Master. At the end of the year, you will be rewarded with a physical pin to commemorate your accomplishment - and every new year for the Leagues, your Rank will reset and you can begin your climb again to earn new pins and new bragging rights.
Finally, you can earn achievements! They vary in rank and difficulty from common all the way up to Legendary, and you'll be able to display your favorite on your profile page and after your name in the standings. Join now to earn them all!

Testimonials
"I have had the pleasure of being in the first 3 seasons of the green banner league. Thanks to the league I have had the amazing pleasure of getting to better know the many fractured play groups and people of the Warhammer community.
While I have only been playing Warhammer since 2020 a common thread I have noticed is that while there are many members of the community we all have had a very real barrier of reaching out to new players groups and players. Playing in the league has helped me meet many people I would have never met or play against and my life is richer for it.
My Green Banner League has been an amazing community building experience and I hope they continue with their success of furthering this and many more amazing experiences for the Warhammer community."

"This was such a fun way to play 40K in a much larger and broader Geographic Community! I love the flexibility of the format and how each game informs a larger narrative! This hast to be one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) 40K leagues in the U.S… I mean, how cool is that!!!"
- Lou R., Salt Lake City Pod 8
I've had a great time in the Green Banner League- this is my third season participating. I think the league is great because it helps me get games in that I might otherwise not have been motivated to find. Playing in a league is also excellent because it ensures you get matched against opponents of like skill. I played fair and balanced games that helped me develop my competency with the game.
