Common Questions
How does the tournament format work?
The Challengers Cup uses a unique format that is refined each year by a committee of professional players, and the rules team polls the community when needed to determine rulings and FAQs leading up to the event.
Can I attend without a full team of 8?
Yes — Freeblades (also known as mercs/mercenaries) join teams that already have tickets to the event, but that might not have a full roster of players or possibly need to fill a spot last minute. If you are an individual interested in playing for an existing team or acting as a coach for a team, please sign up to be a Freeblade!
The event is sold out — can I still get in?
The Challengers Cup has sold out in record breaking time, but we still have time before the event and spots may open up. We are also working closely with the local county and the county-owned venue to possibly increase our space to accommodate the demand. Sign up for the waitlist and we will reach out to you as soon as a spot opens up.
When are army lists due?
The list submission deadline is early September. The registration deadline, rules cutoff, and list reveal and peer review dates will be announced — keep an eye on the Player Portal for updates.
What awards are up for grabs?
All awards at the Challengers Cup are based on team performance, not an individual basis — and when applicable, there are awards for up to two coaches/captains per team. Awards recognized: 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, Monument Hobbies Best of Show, Players Choice Best Painted, and Team Spirit.
